YouMap gives you three ways to create a map: describe it to AI, start from scratch, or pick a template. Here’s how each step works.
1. Open the map creator
iOS: Tap + and select Create a map.
Web: Click Create a map in the left sidebar.

2. Choose how to create your map
Three options to choose from:
- Describe it: type what your map is about and AI builds the structure for you
- Start from scratch: set everything up yourself
- Use a template: browse ready-made maps and customize one

3. Set up your map details
Fill in your map’s basics:
- Map name: give your map a title
- About map: a short description of what it covers
- Cover photo: upload an image or use the AI generator
- Privacy: Public, Selected people, or Only me

4. Set up your Map Key
The Map Key organizes your places into categories. YouMap suggests categories based on your map name and description.
- Keep the suggestions, edit them, or add your own
- Each category gets a name, emoji, and color
- You can add more categories later from your map settings

5. Review suggested places
YouMap can suggest places to add based on your map topic. You can add them, skip them, or come back later.
- Tap a place to see details before adding it
- - Use Add all to add every suggestion at once
- - Tap Skip to go straight to your map

6. Your map is ready
Once you tap Done, your map is created and saved to your profile. You can start adding places, sharing your map, or editing it at any time.
