YouMap gives you three ways to create a youmap: start from scratch and name it yourself, describe what you want and let AI generate the details, or pick a ready-made template and customize it.
To open the creation screen: on iOS, tap the hamburger menu to open the sidebar and select Create new map.
On web, tap + New map at the top right, or select Create new map from the sidebar.
Create from scratch
Start with a blank youmap and set everything up yourself.
1. Tap Create from a scratch.
2. Type a name for your youmap.
3. Tap Create map.
Your youmap is created. A prompt appears inviting you to set it up. Tap Set up your map! to start the Map Setup Checklist, or Skip for now to go straight to your map.

Create with AI
Describe what you want and AI will generate a name, cover photo, description, post types, and starter places for you. You can review and edit everything before your youmap goes live.
- Type a description of the map you want to create in the text field.
- Tap Create map (the gradient button).
On iOS, tap Surprise me to let AI choose a concept for you.
AI generates your cover photo, name, and description in the background. When it's ready, you'll land on the review screen.
- Check your map details. Tap Edit details to make changes, or Try another to regenerate. You can also adjust Settings (privacy) and Map home view (default location) directly from this screen. When you're happy, tap Review post types.
- Review the suggested post types. Tap each one to preview how it looks on your map. Tap Add another to add a new post type, or Regenerate all to start fresh. Tap Next.
- Review the suggested places. Remove any you don't want, or tap Regenerate all for new suggestions. Tap Create YouMap, or Skip this step to skip places.
Your youmap is created. Copy your link or tap Share map to share it right away. Tap Go to map to open your youmap, or View next steps to open the Map Setup Checklist.
Create from a template
Templates give you a ready-made structure with pre-built post types and suggested starter places based on popular map use cases.
- Tap Use a map template.
- Browse the gallery. Use the category tabs at the top to filter. Tap a template to see its details, including the post types it includes.
- Tap Use map template.
- Fill in a name for your youmap. The cover photo, description, home view, and settings are pre-filled from the template. Update anything you'd like to change. Tap Next.
- Review the post types that come with the template. Add more or tap Regenerate all if needed. Tap Next.
- Review the suggested places. Keep, remove, or tap Regenerate all for new suggestions. Tap Create YouMap, or Skip this step to skip places.
Your youmap is created. Tap Go to map to open it.
