Searching for content on YouMap

Accessing the Search Bar

1. Open the YouMap App on your device.

2. Locate the Search Bar at the top of the Main Map View.
• The search bar spans almost the entire width of the screen.
• It may display placeholder text like "Search maps, people, places".

3. Tap on the Search Bar to activate it.

Performing a Search

1. Enter Your Query:
• Type in Keywords related to what you're searching for, such as a map name, username, or location.

2. View Search Categories:
• Below the search bar, you'll see three tabs:
• Maps
• People
• Locations

3. Select a Category:
• Tap on the Maps, People, or Locations Tab to filter your results.

Searching for Maps

1. Tap the Maps Tab.

2. Review Search Results:
• A list of maps matching your query will appear.
• Each result shows:
• Map Name
• Number of Posts and Followers
• Brief Description

3. View Map Details:
• Tap on a Map to see more information and posts associated with it.

4. Follow a Map:
• Tap the Follow Button to add the map to your My World tab.

Searching for People

1. Tap the People Tab.

2. Review Search Results:
• A list of user profiles matching your query will appear.
• Each result displays:
• Profile Picture
• Username

3. View a User Profile:
• Tap on a User to view their profile, including their posts and maps.

4. Follow a User:
• Tap the Follow Button to stay updated with their activity.

Searching for Locations

1. Tap the Locations Tab.

2. Review Search Results:
• A list of locations matching your query will appear.
• Each result includes:
• Location Name
• Address

3. View Location on the Map:
• Tap on a Location to see it highlighted on the map.

4. Explore Nearby Content:
• Zoom In to see posts and maps associated with that location.

Using Recent Searches

• Access Recent Searches:
• Recent search queries may appear below the search bar.

• Select a Recent Search:
• Tap on a Recent Search to perform it again without retyping.

Tips for Effective Searching

• Use Specific Keywords:
• Be as precise as possible to get relevant results.

• Try Different Categories:
• If you don't find what you're looking for in one category, check the others.

• Clear Previous Searches:
• Tap the Clear Button (often an "X" icon) in the search bar to start a new search.
