Ready to join YouMap? Creating an account takes about two minutes. Here's the full flow.
Step 1: Create an account
After downloading, open YouMap and tap Sign Up. Enter your email address, create a password, and add your date of birth. OR skip the form and continue with Apple or Google.
Apple Sign In keeps your real email private. YouMap receives a relay address and everything still works the same way.
Step 2: Verify your email
A 6-digit code goes to your inbox. Enter it on the next screen.
Nothing arrived? Wait 30 seconds, then tap Resend verification code. Still missing? Check your spam folder. Just in case.
Step 3: Choose a username
This is how other users will see you on posts and your profile.
You can change it anytime later in your Profile.
Step 4: Pick your interests
YouMap uses these to recommend maps from the start. Select as many as apply.
If you skip this step, your recommendations will be limited until you add interests later from your profile.
Step 5: Share your location
When you enable location sharing, you see posts and updates from maps near you in real time. Without it, the app can't show you what's happening around you.
If you'd rather not share your device location, you can search for a specific area instead using the Search location field.
You can also enable location access later in your device settings. YouMap uses your location only to show you nearby content. It is never shared publicly.
Step 6: Follow recommended maps
Based on your interests, YouMap suggests a few maps to start with.
- Tap Follow on maps you would like to follow.
- Tap Skip if you'd rather browse on your own.
You can always find more maps in Find Maps.
Step 7: Turn on notification
Notifications let you know when maps you follow get new posts.
- Tap Allow notifications to enable them now OR
- Skip for now to decide later
You can update this in your settings at any time.
Step 8: Invite friends
YouMap gives you a shareable link to your profile. Send it via WhatsApp, social media, or copy the link directly. Tap Get started when you're ready to go to your feed.
You're in!
Your home feed is ready. The first time you open it, a short walkthrough explains the three main areas: your feed, your maps in the sidebar, and the Discovery tab. Step through it or close it and explore on your own.
