A youmap is the map. A post is what goes on it. A place is where it happens. They all work together, but they're not the same thing.
What is a youmap?
A youmap is a map built around a specific topic or purpose. "Best coffee in Krakow." "Dog-friendly parks near me." "Street art I've found." You create it once, set who can contribute, and it becomes the home for everything related to that topic.
You can follow a youmap, share it, and embed it on a website. Other people can contribute posts to it if you allow it.
What is a post?
A post is content added to a youmap at a real-world location. It shows up on the map as a mapmoji: a bubble with an emoji, pinned to the exact spot.
Example: "Lost Pets in the Neighborhood" is the youmap. A post on it reads "Spotted a golden retriever on Długa Street, no collar, very friendly." Pinned to the exact street where the dog was seen.
Posts can include a photo, description, rating, date, or any fields the map creator set up.
How they connect
Youmap
- Created once.
- Organized around a topic.
- Can have many contributors and hundreds of posts.
Post
- Added over time.
- Tied to a specific location.
- Shows up as a mapmoji on the map.
Every post belongs to a youmap. You can't create one without choosing which map to add it to.
What about places?
Places are a third thing. A place is a location with its own profile on YouMap: a café, a park, a street corner.
When you open a place, you see posts from multiple youmaps that all mentioned it.
A post is something you create. A place is where it gets pinned.
