YouMap is a place to build maps around things you actually care about. Follow maps built by people who do the same.
Most apps give you one feed for everything. YouMap works differently. Every map has a focus: coffee shops in a specific neighborhood, street art across a city, trails only locals know about.
You create maps around what you love. You add posts on maps around what you know. You follow maps around what you want to discover.
What people build on YouMap
- Personal collections — your favorite coffee shops, a running list of places to try, spots you want to remember
- Travel logs — places you've visited, restaurants worth going back to, a map of everywhere you've been
- Neighborhood guides — local food spots, hidden gems, places worth knowing before moving to a new city
- Community maps — shared resources for a neighborhood, school, or group of friends
- Interest-based collections — street art, bookshops, dog-friendly parks, hiking trails
- Event and travel guides — spots to visit on a trip, restaurants for a special occasion, venues for a night out
- Local knowledge archives — the kind of information that usually lives in someone's head or a group chat
YouMaps
Maps on the app are called YouMaps. YouMaps are collections of real places built around the map creator’s interest. Coffee spots in Lisbon. Street art in Berlin. One person’s love letter to Rome.
Each YouMap has:
- A name and cover image
- A description that sets the context for contributors and followers
- Privacy settings: public (anyone can find and follow it) or private (invite only)

Places and Posts
A place is a saved location with its own profile on YouMap. When you open a place, you can see posts from different youmaps that include it.
A café could appear on a local food map, a weekend guide, and a first-date spots list all at once. Places connect across youmaps automatically.

Posts show up on the map as bubble markers with mapmojis (emojis used as map markers) so you can spot content at a glance.
A post can include a photo, a note, a tip, or a rating. What contributors can add depends on how the youmap creator set it up.

Your feed
Your feed is where everything you follow comes together. Every new post from every youmap you follow shows up here, newest first.
Your own youmaps are always one tap away in the Map Library, accessible directly from the sidebar.
