When you create a new account, some setup steps are skippable. This guide walks you through completing them and gets you into content that's relevant to you.
1. Complete your Profile
Go to your profile and tap Edit profile. Add your nickname, full name, and a short bio.
- iOS: Tap your profile photo to open the photo picker.
- Web: Click the image icon at the lower corner of the profile photo, then upload from device or drag and drop.
You can also choose a ready-made avatar from the row below your profile photo on either platform. Tap Save when done.
2. Set your Map Home View
Your Map Home View is the location your map opens to by default. Tap Map Home View in Edit profile, then search for a location or move the pin to where you want it
Tap Set as Home View on iOS, or Set on web.
3. Set your interests
Tap Your preferences in Edit profile. Select at least 3 interests from the categories shown, then tap Save. YouMap uses these to personalize the maps and posts it recommends to you.
If you skipped this during sign-up, coming back to set your interests now makes a real difference in what shows up in your feed.
4. Find maps to follow
Open Find YouMaps from the sidebar on web, or from the bottom nav on iOS, and browse by category. Tap Follow on anything that interests you.
5. Explore your feed
Once you're following maps, your home feed fills in with their latest posts. You can also browse public content: open Discovery on web from the left sidebar, or tap the Explore icon (β¦) on iOS in the bottom nav.
6. Add your first post
Open a map you want to contribute to and tap + to add a post. Choose a location, fill in the fields, and tap Save. Your post appears on the map immediately.
